Creating the soundtrack

In a lesson I had previously started to download some free sound loops to use in our soundtrack, which was helpful as I didn't find a lot I liked on garage band. In todays lesson I created the soundtrack and tried to show the contrast between the points of view; for example we used dark sound when it was the killers point of view to show he was deadly, but from the point of views of the girls we used light cheerful sound to show their innocence to the situation. Overall I are very happy with the way the soundtrack was finished and I feel it suits the genre well.

Editing

Due to the loss of editing footage due to the school Macs being stolen, I have had to start again from fresh with all the editing. In todays lesson I had Final Cut installed to my Macbook Pro, therefore I am now able to re-start editing again. So far I have re-named all the original clips, as well as the re-shoot clips. I am now beginning to order the clips and will then start editing them properly and in detail. Throughout this, I will also be considering the type of sound or music that I will use.

Editing the opening sequence

Firstly, Libby and I uploaded all the footage we had taken on our day of filming into Final Cut Pro and began to re-name all the clips so that we could access them more easily. After this we then started to order to clips in what fitted the storyboard; however, as we started to put it together we re-ordered some of the clips slightly as we felt it fit better, and created a better narrative. For example instead of starting with the girls in the cabin talking, we used a behind the shoulder shot of the killer walking to the cabin and looking through the window to establish the location and set the premise for the sequence.
After we had finally put all the clips in the right order, we then made a list of all the things we wanted to re-shoot and also film and add into the sequence. For example we want to re-film to part were the character Izzy goes outside. We also want to add some more scenes from the perspective off the killer- so looking through others windows at the girls.

Opening sequence storyboard

Creating the storyboard

In fridays lesson (11/1/13) I started to create the initial storyboard for our idea. I started off using sticky notes so that it would be easier to change aspects if needs be. Following this, I have no finished the storyboard and will be transferring it to storyboarding sheets so we can then move onto developing a script, call sheet and shooting schedule.

Opening sequence overview

In order to help decide which genre I was going to use for my opening sequence I brainstormed all the possible themes in different genres. From this, I now have a clearly indication of which genre I may pick, for example either horror or action, with the theme of isolated areas and escape/siege.
